Livability West Sussex

About this provider

Livability gives disabled and disadvantaged people real choice about how they live their lives.

We are a national Christian disability and community engagement charity who provide a wide and diverse range of services helping disabled children and adults to reach their full potential and develop their independence. Our work is further driven by our enabling network of volunteers and the community engagement team who support churches to make their communities become more inclusive and better places to live.

Created by the merger of the Shaftesbury Society and John Grooms in 2007, Livability combines a strong heritage as social reformers with a will to innovate and an ambition to put an end to social exclusion.

We are proud to have merged with two other Charities namely Holton Lee in 2014, and more recently Prospects in May 2016, thereby extending our reach and church networks throughout the UK.

Holton Lee is set in the Dorset Countryside, with 350 acres of natural woodland, where visitors are welcomed to enjoy walks or use the mobility vehicles to fully embrace the peaceful surroundings and engage with nature. With two houses available to rent for holidays, Holton Lee provides a perfect woodland retreat with the option of visiting nearby Poole and its attractions.

Prospects is a leading Christian organisation for people with learning disabilities and their families in the UK, providing person-centred support within a range of housing settings; supported living, residential, domiciliary care and day opportunities.

Valuing people and putting our customers first
At Livability we treat every person who uses our services as an individual and put service users, their families and carers at the centre of what we do.

Our services are tailored to the individual in a holistic way, building an individual’s personal assets to strengthen their physical, mental, spiritual and social health towards positive personalised outcomes. We evidence what we do as proof that the service we offer remains person-centred, up-to-date and fully involves the people we support to have full choice and control over their lives.

Service users advise us on the wider disability issues we should be tackling and are the driving force behind our national campaigns that challenge society's attitudes to disability.
